Inspired by his father’s love for fine wine and food, Tremayne Smith decided to follow a career in winemaking after spending a year at culinary school. After graduating from Elsenberg College with a degree in Cellar Technology in 2007, he spent a harvest at De Trafford in 2008 before moving to Sijn Wines as Assistant Winemaker and Vineyard Manager, working closely under celebrated wine maker, David Trafford.
In 2012, Tremayne moved to Mullineux and Leeu Family Wines as Assistant Winemaker, gaining invaluable experience and winning recognition as a game-changing Young Gun from Wine Cellar, the respected online wine merchant.
Born and raised in East London in the Eastern Cape, Tremayne has also completed two vintages in the South of France and a vintage in Central Spain. In his free time, he enjoys curing and smoking meats, cooking and playing cricket.
