The harvest certainly started with a bang this year!  It is the earliest we have ever experienced with the whites.  At this stage we are almost finished with the whites with just a little Chardonnay to come in from Elgin next week.  The pace of the harvest has been great, it has had a nice rhythm to it;  with the grapes coming in a steady flow. A few late nights but not too many!

The quality so far has been fantastic, very healthy grapes, with beautiful balance, flavour and concentration.  We are happy to have secured a few new vineyards of old vine Chenin in the Swartland and look forward to watching their development.

We also brought in a small amount of Grenache Gris for the first time. Very interesting variety and we will see how it develops.

On Fable, the reds haven’t really started yet although we have taken in a little for a whole cluster component from an earlier ripening block.  The quality here is looking good, beautiful small bunches and berries.

We have been putting the kids to work when they come home from school. Nice to see them getting into it the harvest spirit!
